Hi all,

Just thought I would start a Dedicated Bedford CF Thread seeing as I own one myself !!. I`m sure most of you have seen my Van by now, but here`s the Build Thread again anyway, from "Retro Power`s" Website. Its based on a 1984 CF2 250 SWB ; -

The Steering Wheel has been changed since these pictures were taken, and the New Boss & 3 Spoke Chrome/Leather Mountney S/Wheel are both now in place. (Dirty Marks have been cleaned off the seats too. Lol !!).

I went over to Leicester today, and Callum from R/Power was fitting the new Edelbrock 1404 500 cfm Carb, (I stripped the EFI System off, and replaced it with an Offy 360 Inlet Manifold, and Holley 600 cfm Carb, which was too big for the 4.6 V8 Lump), so it should be Running & Mobile again now as I type this back at home !!. Its going to be kept in Storage until the end of March 2012, then fetched out again, and used through Spring & Summer. There are one or two VERY minor odds & sods to finish off which can be completed over Winter, and I`m also thinking of fitting LPG. (Finances Permitting !!). I`m looking at this Front End Kit from RPI ; -

LPG OMVL Weber 500 Holly Power Plenum 4 Barrel Rover V8 lpg system Land Rover | eBay

I know that "Impco" for instance also do LPG kits for 4 Barrel Carbs, but I thought that this RPI one might be the one to go for ??!!. As always, your Advice & Opinions on this matter would be very much appreciated, and if anyone knows of one of these Kits up for sale, with or without the LPG Tank etc, then please let me know !!. Oh yes, before I go, I have found a Spares Company in Australia, that do a New Rubber Seal Kit for Cf`s, and they also separately do the Sponge Rubber Door Seals, with the Plastic "Bayonet" Fasteners, which sit all around the inside of the
door frame, for $45.00 AUD each. Thought this may be helpful, as apart from Front Screen Rubbers, you cant buy the other Rubbers anywhere new in the UK now as far as I am aware !!. (I suppose someone will now tell me I`m wrong after Months of Searching. Lol !!).

No that is Wobbly Bobs yellow van that was in the same body shop for a respray.

Aah right, I thought it looked familiar, especially with the Roof Chop !!. I`ve spoken to Bob a couple of times on the phone, and it was him that sold me the Centre Boss to fit the Mountney S/Wheel. A really nice bloke, wish he was a bit closer !!. Have you heard anything from Stumpy/Ade ?. Last time I spoke to him, his Upholstery Business was really taking off, and he was doing ok, so I hope this is still the case. I know that he`s put his CF on hold, (or he had done at the time), but it will make a Fantastic Van when its finished, especially with that Chevy V8 fitted etc !!.

I`m very happy to report that the Brand New Edelbrock 1404 is now fully fitted, as well as having the top end Breather System sorted properly, and a PCV Valve added, and the engine is apparently running like a dream !!. Cal who did the work said he couldn`t believe the difference between the New E/brock, and the Holley 600 which was fitted previously, and everything is absolutely spot on, and the van drives Faultlessly !!. :D Right, now to sort the LPG ............................ !!!!!!.

I had some on a Volvo truck and loved them, bought some for my Dodge while in the states but got the wrong year :-(.
They do a set for my van so I might get some yet..... let us know how you get on.

#11 ·
Hmmmm, they are looking very promising from the comments being made, I may just take the plunge and buy a pair, that`s of course if I can still afford `em when I`ve paid the HUGE Gas & Electricity Bills which both dropped through the door earlier today !!. I`ll keep you posted.

Yep, this is very true. Its a cracking feature, a number of pages long, plenty of Pictures, plus its the "Centrefold" Double Page pull out too !!. I was a very proud "Father" !!.:D:tup:

How have I missed this thread until now??

I love CF's and one day I will eventually get mine finished. Mine won't be anywhere near as tidy as these though, she will be wearing her dents with pride...

Rover V8, trans and SD1 back axle fitted, Just need to wire and plum it in and get the prop sorted. Not done much this year though as we moved last year and the house took priority (and all our money!). Progress is to resume soon though, I want it running for next year!!

#167 ·
Sheet, over 4 years ago I said I wanted it done for the summer, its still not done!! :shake:
But I have moved house again since then to a place where the beast can reside at home and progress is actually being made . Brakes need connecting and bleeding, prop need fitting and it needs an engine cover to hit the road. It looks like shit but I'll worry about that later.
Skip to about 40 seconds in and there is life in the old girl.....

#20 ·
Go for it Fingers !!. Be good to see it at the Nat`s etc in 2012. I`ve been saying this about my own van since early 2010, but it seems it might actually make it next year !!. By the way, aren`t the V8 SD1 Axles a cracking fit across the back of a CF ??!!. I had a CF before the one I have now, with an SD1 Axle fitted, and it was a perfect fit, letting the existing Rear Arches remain in place un-altered, and allowing 255 Tyres to be fitted, which looked just perfect from behind !!.

I found this going through some old photos........... I was used to tow a drag car in the seventies.

#24 ·
2.3 and auto....... it was a newish van in 75.

Always like the CF much better than the Transit,it at least would go round a corner....Used to be one about here "Tam Fae Kilmornock" (you need the Scottish accent to get the full effect) Gambler Van?? ( roulette wheel finish on the rear slots)

The DTV Rally Support Vans were the business performance and handling wise, 2.6 Blydenstein, ZF box, always good for a laugh as some clown tried to catch one with a MK2 escort

Was that not Kieth harvies van, from Southends Americar?
I bought my 1st set of portholes and swivel bases off him.
