    Axle gear swap costs

Just as a ball park figure, roughly how much can I expect to pay to have the gears changed and set-up in a 9" axle? I've got the crownwheel and pinion, just need them swapping over. Axle/pumpkin will be removed from car.And any recommendations for someone to do it in the south midlands area?

What ratio are you looking for? Could be easier to just buy a new centre with some already in it

Probably £150 plus though I reckon

I've got a 4.11 unit all built up and looking to change for something else if interested

Hauser, Andy Robinson, in fact any deee diff shop should be able to do it

I'm only running 26" tyres, 40mph is just over 2500rpm. I'm hoping going to 3.00 will bring revs down and mpg up!!

I ran 3:1 originally with stock tyres and then with 28's, now up at just over 30.....cruising with a 3:1 at 60-70 was quite comfortable but acceleration was poor. Weak burnouts too

For a daily or just a cruiser it'll be fine

i spoke to Hauser recently. From memory it was 200 quid labour and 200 for the gears. Doesn't take long if you take it to them.

Was going to change the 3.73's to 3.55 or 3.25 ish in the 9" in my Dad's '69 Camaro.

Why not do it yourself? With a decent manual and patience it should be a straight forward job.
If I wasn't meant to go that fast, the pedal would only go half way!
