Hi guys as per the title need to either widen the rims, or else replace with wider rims ; don't want to change axles at this stage, any help most gratefully received

can get them banded to widen them or use a hub adapter to fit different wheels

Hi, banding the wheels was one of my options, but where would I get hub adaptors?

I think it says in the original post 5x101/4? Hence wide 5.

Quite right, I must have missed the dash but it's the pcd that's 5 x 10-1/4 not the rim size. Early Ford fitment.

Thats a big old PCD.....in that case you'd have to have custom wheels made or custom adapters. Be easier to throw another axle on now rather than later

Certainly is a big pod, hence the 'wide 5' moniker. on pre war, 36 to 40 Fords, pretty sure Pilots are the same.

Back to the original pos, what diameter rims? I'd guess at 16" ? Banding should be an option, try doing a search for banded steel wheels on here, I'm sure there was at least one thread relating to it in the past. Failing that someone like Motor Wheel Services might be able to put your centres in new rims. A lot will depend on how wide you want to go.

Yes 16"s; should have been a bit clearer first off the 10- 1/4" is the pcd ,the hubs/drums are domed making adaptor plates a bit more complex, I did hope they were the same as the pop, which in turn is early VW, but sadly not.
