Any recommendations for an affordable CAD program (or do we have to call it an app nowadays?), for general hobby use? 2D is OK for what I will use it for. In the past I used TurboCAD which was always pretty unstable but eventually had the option of working with DWG files. More recently I have used DraughtSight which used to be free for home users: I have a new laptop and they have changed to an £80 a year subscription, and I'm definitely not into this subscription software scam. At work I use AutoCAD LT and that's something like £400 a year I think.
So, 2D and DWG compatibilty are the main requisites, but using similar functions and UI to AutoCAD would be good (DraughtSight is fairly good in that respect).
