    3.3 Ltr Zephyr 6 Conversion

Hello gents - back in the day when i was working at Fords Dunton one of the guys in the engine assembly had Mk3 Zephyr. This was bored out to 3.3 Ltrs - fitted with three Weber Carbs, a high compression gas flowed head, high lift cam, with bigger valves, tubular exhaust and a manual Jaguar gearbox from an E type (his son worked at Jag) - The guy was from South Africa - Does anyone know about this conversion?

    thanks in advance

    Geoff

When you say it had a gas flowed head and Tripple Webbers do you mean it had the side draght carbs? That was usually done with the Raymond Mays six port heads and depending on who you listened to gave around 200 bhp. If it was 3.3 litre it may have been stroked because I wouldn't have thought there was space or bore one out much more.

You are not alone Kev. I guess you would probably think I would remember.

Are we both now mines of useless information or miserable old geezers with old tales too often told?

I think we might at a push be, 'some of the above', 'most of the above', hell, by now I guess we could be moving towards 'all of the above'

Of course I KNEW you'd know Alan . We are becoming more insignificant as we remember how it all started in this country , no one cares about our history or those who went before . All about the latest internet post
