I built this up 20 something years ago. It had a 1300 Ital block and crank, Metro Turbo rods pistons and head, Ford type 9 gearbox, 3.9 CW & P, Dual circuit Disc brakes, fiddled with front suspension yada yada. Could easily keep up with modern traffic, reasonable fuel economy and generally quite practical. My now ex-wife took it when she left, I do miss the pickup.

I’d have either a ‘32 2 door woody with a 2.0 EcoBoost and 6 speed manual or a Falcon truck with the same running gear.

For me it would have to be a MK3 Z and it would get a Cologne V6 or maybe a not too wild Windsor V8 with 5 speed, Capri front suspension with PAS and Ford 8 inch on leaves with uprated shocks (**** I think I have used up my 8 points) so I will have to have all new windows and lose some sharp edges etc etc oh and I would fit air-con and electric windows.

The Falcon with the 2.0l and six speed sounds good. Got a soft spot for the Falcon.

funny you should say that, i put a 2.9 efi auto in a mk3 zody, with all capri front suspension and rear axle, sold it to a meta who drove it all winter, he sold it to a guy from plymouth way who flew up to glasgow and drove it home, phoned my mate to tell him he had a brilliant drive home

I keep looking at that but don't want to go auto, does the 2.9 ECU work ok stand alone or is it a drama? and can it mate to the 2.8 type 9?
