    Big Brother

Have I been watching too much YouTube or is it too much beer, has the world gone mad over COVID ( new word for the Oxford dictionary) ,it seems that the government/ police have implemented so many new laws that no matter what we do we are screwed ?, so much that I see I agree with but am I been fooled into a false sense of security?, and what’s this about the great reboot, is this pandemic just a means to an end ?, are we doomed or just carry on as usual, derr I think I’ve just answered my own answer,( too much time at home and too much beer) , surely this can’t be the way ahead, we need a holiday.

It seems to me the cost has been too great...spiralling mental health issues, people not getting treatment for illnesses that will DEFINITELY kill them (like cancer) to control one that might if they are unlucky, devastating economic impact, families torn apart, the sick and the elderly having to die alone and all the while we hope for an end to a pandemic, relying on a Government that has no master plan for escape and a health service that is so dysfunctional it will probably never get on top of it. Happy New Year!

Poiitics has always been polarised imo so despite anyones preferences Nige says it like it is.
Features that discraceful bundle in someones home in Scotland by zealous cops thinking AN UNALLOWED VISITOR HAD ENTERED THE HOUSE!!! And another story about divide and rule by dobbing in a neighbour thinking because he played loud music he must have a houseful of guests.

With worrying conclusion that hastily introduced laws may be very slow to be relaxed removed.

Everything Poncho has said is correct, and it all seems to be because we can't come to terms with the fact that people, when they get very old, start to get sick and die. That's the natural order of things and that's how it should be.

And some individuals and businesses do have a vested interest in perpetuating this 'crisis' (I use inverted commas because a crisis is only a crisis when you start to panic; keep a level head and a crisis won't materialise). Look no further than Google, Facebook and Twitter, which are actively censoring dissent, while they wield power that kings and emperors could only ever have dreamed of, and the small business owner is completely left in the lurch.
"He deserves a not-very-polite punch in the gob!" - 28Chevy; "It's a shame the Old Bill didn't crack his head." - magneto; "A complete and absolute dickhead, a self-centred, arrogant and obnoxious knob who deserves to catch the virus. I hope the NHS refuses to treat him." - fogey; "Jumped-up little moron" - orange

    .

THAT is what most people simply do not accept that death is invitable. They fight to have people saved so that they don't have to have the pain of loss often overlooking the fact thye are prolonging a miserable existence rather than giving any quality which is far more important. THAT is why the NHS is underfunded as more expensive treatments become available to extend life but should that be done at all costs ?

However there's a big difference to extending life and that of ensuring that peopl eget their fair shake at 3 score years and ten.

yep, if your pet cat, dog or whatever was ill with no quality of life you'd do the right thing and put it to sleep. but us humans don't get that option (in most countries) to go with dignity when the time comes.
need a job done on your project? i may be able to help.

Nothing natural about what Shipman did! I think Nigel and Kev's point is that eventually, we will reach a stage where the elderly are kept alive indefinitely by artificial means, years after any semblance of quality of life has gone. Meanwhile, vast swathes of people, many of them young, will die for want of treatment as the NHS collapses under the weight of demand. The media will trumpet victory for science as Mrs Miggins reaches 185years old (she won't know as most of her mental function died 50 years ago) and the public will lap it up, whilst simultaneously decrying the lack of basic care and blaming the Govt for not spending enough on the bottomless money pit of the NHS.

    Zack,

You might want to visit a local hospital.

Wards are now full of YOUNG people with Covid - 19 to 40 year olds and their lungs are in the words of the NHS 'totally ****ed' - far worse that the lungs of anyone earlier in the year. They are full of Pleuresy & Pnuemonia brought on by Covid. Still, not a problem for you as you don't believe it exists and as you are young you are immune.
