Totally agree with you there Mike, it was always one of things that I missed when I lived in So Cal. I found a 'few' Californians that were way into all things British and they always got my humor, the rest 'em.... it just went over their heads !

I don't have much luck with the Germans either!!!!

I work for a German company and every time I am over there I have to watch what I say, which I find really difficult!!

Mind you after 3 years in the UK our German Manufacturing Director is starting to 'get it'!!!

And don't even get me started on the French!!!

Actually,I am good friends with a Chicano Mexican who's one of the old Lowrider guys out of east LA and he is one of the funniest guys I've ever met.Mexicans know how to have fun.
I do miss the fun at British rod runs, always a good laugh but here in the US its just walk around, look at the cars and go home! Nothing to compare with the UK as far as having a laugh goes.

The car shows over here are pretty boring, aload of old geezers sitting around behind their cars on lawn chairs, some even older than me.
I have a car guy mate over here who I tell stories of the HRD'S or the Nats. Everystory ends with 'this year I'm coming over', yea right, he'd be in bed by eight.
As for last out of the bar at Avon Park, no chance.
If some's good, more's better and too much is just enough

The Aussies get it (sort of), but nothing beats the pommie humor. Most of my close mates down here are English.
