My second favourite film (after The Godfather). One of my favourite scenes is where Bill Hickman snaps on his lap belt, and all hell is let loose. Fantastic ice cool score as well. Got it on vid, hence typing this while it's on!

Without the car chase it's a fairly run of the mill detective film, I might even go as far as to say somewhat boring

    Watched it all.

It is a glorious film from that era.
Filled with quality actors, utterly brilliant score and photography and composition second to none. Watch the scenes and positioning of actors and props. Brilliant!

Same director, Peter Yates, and apparently why he was chosen for Bullitt. Bullitt has taken on increasingly iconic status as time has gone on, and amazingly hasn't dated that much, as we can still relate to most of it. Apparently, the Mustang had 325bhp, and the Charger 50bhp more - that's real power even today. I first saw it in the cinema when it was 3 or 4 years old, as we could skip off tech college on a Weds afternoon, and the Little Theatre in Bath sometimes showed films that had already done the rounds. I remember at the time feeling a little nauseous with the view from the car mounted cameras as they went over the crests of the hills. It's not just the cars, but the airport scene, the clothes, Jacqueline Bisset (ahh..), SF, jazz score etc

Great film. Going into my man cave, sit in my 68 Bullitt Charger clone and watch through the windshield on the TV on the Garage wall LOL.

Sad or what ? but who cares.

I know it's an iconic film for all of the above reasons but still get annoyed by the many continuity errors and think it needs a digital makeover. It can't be too hard to get rid of that green VW that they overtake about ten times and maybe Photoshop (or whatever they do in films) the hubcaps so that they don't keep magically reapearing once they have fallen off the Charger etc etc
