can anybody help

I am working hard to bring my 1958 chevy apache suburban back to life early next year, (hopefully spring), but i'm having some problems with a few things,
because its a suburban and not a pickup it seams that anything that is beyond the front doors going backwards is unobtainable, or so it seams,
I took the two rare light units to the chromers because chrome was naf, but they got back to me and said they had pits in them so cauld not be chromed,
problem now being I just cant go out and buy a new pair because suburbans and panel vans are rarer than pickups which were produced in greater
numbers, so can anyone steer me in the right direction, I would go for a rare light that would suit which maybe is reproduced, also need back door window
rubbers, which again dont know if they were reproduced, dont seem to be able to find supliers in usa,
any advice would be great, Richard.

I'd have thought the chromer could fill in the pits with brass (or whatever) lanish (?) and then chrome them. I'd find another chromer for a 2nd opinion.

got my stuff from truck and car shop in california, you can get what you mentioned above from there, any pics of your burb, i sold mine earlier this year

I'd agree with Weslake-Monza, try and find a chrome restorer rather that a common or garden electro-plater, it wont be cheap though.

You can also chrome over lead if you fancy trying your hand at lead loading. Silver solder also I believe and you can chrome on brass. As for window rubber, I'd match it up to whatever you can find that's very close. Try M&M Classic trimmers

PM Pride (Mark) on here, he's in Norwich, & should be able to match your window rubbers to something close.

You can definitely chrome on brass, Chris Glover (Brasscraft) makes Cobra Screens out of brass and then chromes them, a good chrome r can fill pits but it's very time consuming, think they use copper then linish it off then back in the vat for some more copper, they have to do this many times because they only get a layer of copper a few microns thick each time it's dipped.

Is this a 58 Apache Suburban ?
Some american lamp assemblies are made of Mazak (or sometimes called Monkey Metal) a Zinc cast process.
Although it is quite hard to re-plate its no impossible .

As other have already said old pitted metal can be brass filled / repaired before re-plating.
