    Chop/mitre saw recommendations

Just about to buy a chop/mitre saw for carpentry project. So thought I might as well get one suitable for use in garage afterwards ( cutting box section steel etc).

Does anyone have any recommendations? I’d rather get something decent now, rather than buy cheap, buy twice.

    Thanks

I have a DeWalt compound mitre saw (DW708, not made any more unfortunately) for work, it was 2nd hand when I bought it nearly 10 years ago, it gets used all day 5 days a week & all it's ever had done is the blade sharpened a couple of times & new brushes once. I also have an evolution mitre saw in the workshop for metal. The Rage saws are ok but not the best for either wood or metal. Unless you're not fussy about accuracy.

    Thanks for replies,

I've already got couple of Dewalt drills plus their impact driver. Always been happy with qualty and durabilty, so leaning towards them at moment.

shovelheadrob: I have noticed a few secondhand dewalt saws, now I've started looking properly. Obviously little bit of a gamble buying used, but do seem to some good buys around.

    thanks.

I had a Rage saw, was supposed to be multipurpose and was rubbish at everything. I gave it away to a mate to cut firewood and he thought it was useless too and chucked it out. I cut steel with a proper Makita cut off saw.
