    Clear title etc..

I ve found something im very interested in the States, just checking what info i need it to have as this is new to me. Need to know about the title and if it needs anything else paperwork wise.

    He says:

"The title is in a friends name from Iowa with just his name and no date of sale" - is this ok?

Its been off the road for many years and doesnt appear to have number plates - is that an issue?

Trying not get my fingers burnt, any tips?

Also have read lots of shipping company names mentioned here, but do they also organise transport from inland to the port or is that usually a different company? - Yes i will contact the shipping companies but just getting your views.

    Any help appreciated.

Needs to be in the Legal and Licencing section I think.
In the immortal words of Fred Offenhauser............
"There are street rods and there are hot rods.
Street rods have a Chevy up front and a can of wax in the back.
Hot rods have a flathead up front and tools in the back."

Aaron, can you send me a scanned copy of the title. It sounds okay to me as the vehicle is for export. UK based shippers like Schumacaer will organsie everything for you, even to your own door if you like. Where in the States is the vehicle?

plates arent tied to the car like in the uk, here they are tied to the owner and swap from car to car if that makes sense, all sounds ok to me, i have shipped a few classics with bill of sale only , 3 last year and all were registered no pronlem in the uk

as long as the vin on the car matches the title & you have a bill of sale from the name on the title to the guy you are buying it from & a bill of sale from him to you, it will be acceptable to us customs , get the seller to send you a picture of the vin & the title , hill shipping can get the vehicle collected from the seller & delivered to you,re door they do it all the time , if its a non runner inland transport in the us is expensive , unless its something you have to have & it cant be found elsewhere best to look within reasonable distance to a major shipping port if its a non runner RAY A in sf

Unfortunatley for me the car i was after sold to someone else. I have found another car and the seller has sent me a scanned copy of the title. What am i looking for with regard to tiltle. As far as i can tell there are no extra notes on the title, only vehicle and owner details. The seller was recommended to me by someone on here plus a specialist here uses him a lot, so i think he is honest and genuine. Just like to to do as much research as possible before. (ive put a deposit on the car so as not to lose out this time)
    Thanks.
