    Cruise season's here...

Spring is here, summer can't be far away and the evening's are getting lighter, so where better to be than Chelsea Bridge on a Saturday night?

The first decent-sized cruise of the year was typically irksome to reach, and when I arrived at about 7:45 Battersea Park was packed with identical Mk. II Golfs occupying every parking space and generating a traffic jam. When they cleared off the evening started to pick up and it was worth making the (considerable) effort of travelling there.

    Anyway, pics here we come...

First-gen Mustangs and Bandit-type Firebirds are perennial Chelsea favourites as this lot goes to show

'64 Pontiac Parisienne - a Canadian model - gets to Chelsea most months...

...but this '70 Chevelle seems to have a perfect attendance record from when it first appeared

Don't really care for the 'fast Fords', but this '67 Anglia was nicely restrained

While my interest in European cars slows down after the early '60s, I do have a soft spot for the PC-series Vauxhall Cresta. Long bonnet, Coke bottle haunches and whitewalls give a touch of American style, and a 3.3-litre six sees it outperform most family cars.

I see no point in being polite here - vaping's as gay as anything and proclaiming it on your hot rod is like giving a German shepherd a poodle haircut - but aside from that this '70s T-Bucket with Daimler 2.5 Hemi is as cool as anything. That's a trivial throwaway remark, by the way, just in case some vaper was thinking of taking offence. Shame it's lost its '70s paint, though - see this photo from the Ace in August.

Lack of badges negates me identifying this '67 Pontiac as a Tempest or a LeMans, but it's cool whatever it is. 326ci according to the badge on the wings.

Those more inclined towards unmodified cars (if anyone is on this site) might have preferred this '64 3.8-litre Jag Mk. II...

    ...or this '68 Riley Elf...

...or my personal favourite, this sweet little '59 Prefect 100E.

I was thinking to myself earlier this week how I hadn't seen a Baja Bug for ages. Well, here's one and it's a bit Mad Max - when the arsenal's on display, anyway.

I love seeing Yanks with non-age-related British registrations since they identify the car as having been over here 'back in the day'. This '67 Buick Skylark was registered in 1982, so may well have been forwards and backwards over the Bridge in the Cruise's heyday.
