Used to remember their adds in the old Custom Car mags , and dreaming about slot mags for my PA Cresta
Used to go to John Brown Wheels in Manchester, Oxford Rd by the university. Also Dee's Customs in Birkenhead and West Coast Customs in Crosby, Liverpool.
Terry from Deals on Wheels in Birmingham used to be on here as 'Beachcomber'. Haven't seen him post for a while though.
Church Road in Northolt used to have a similar shop with 8 spokes, slot mags, modular etc in the window and a wall full with photos of cars with their new set of wheels fitted
west coast customs was Andy Lowe's shop.
spent lots of time there.
he had a huge scalextric track in the empty shop next door. many happy hours there.
buddy Pete's wife worked there also.
Pete had his van broken into and his radio/cassette tape player stolen. yes we lived in liverpool!!!
the thieves forgot to cut the wire and plug that fitted into the back of the player.
not to many days after the crime, into the shop comes some scouse skally's and they want to know if Pete's wife can get a wire plug for the back of the unit. well she recognizes it right away.
being quite stelf, she says "yes i can get that for you by tomorrow. come back at 3:00"
after they leave she calls the local cops.
the cops come back the next day at 3 to meet the crooks.
just for once, one of those ass holes got caught for stealing stereo's.
sent from my Commodore vic 32
I love a story with a happy ending
I think Steve Henshaw worked there at one time. He owned the Model A roadster you put on the Who are you section on here.
I used to Pass Ed Turners in Hayes on my way to school... I also used to hang around Bell Motors in Harlington as they fabricated Exhausts for all the local Yank/Classic car owners...... Happy days
