Add to that diesel's always seemed to do more to the gallon than they do these days

Ive got a deisel 7 seater (rising sun import) that returns about the same as my SBC (did ) in the Consul (18 on a good day)

    Check this out

It's such a massive revenue raiser for Gordon and alistair, that once they realised that peoplr were buying less petrol in favour or deisel, then as deisels are "more efficient" they suddenly had a huge drop in Excise. Hence the price hike.
    I'm not cynical really........
Watch out, LPG prices will rise dramatically, in a budget a couple of years ago, a stealth increase of 20% per year (I think, I'll have to check) until it reaches unleaded prices.
    Nice treasury

Fozwanger your remarks are spot on! British motorists have been a soft target for a long time. Only in the great Fuel Protest did the general public start to emerge from its usual apathy, with the result that Greedy Gordon held back on his stealth taxes till the fuss died down...

Less than 20% , thought it was only 1 p per litre per yera until it caught up ?

You are allowed to run cooking oil up to 2500 litres per year providing you keep records of how much. It will only work with certain pumps unless you use a pre heater to thin it out. Customs worked out it was costing more to collect than the duty earned on 2500 and below !
