Ebay must be able to do something, they know in a nanosecond when you try to sneak an email address into correspondence between buyer and seller.. Of course that small misdemeanour might deprive THEM of revenue, but really doesn't matter if a punter is screwed.. They must have some kind of algorithm that could work it out ..

I report these listings all the time

    lets just do some math
lets just say half a million new listings per day. its more like millions worldwide.
you have 8 hours of work per day.
    thats 28,800 seconds
so you have to check 17 listings per second.
ok..so employ 17 checkers, now all they have to do is check one listing per second
lets say you can check a listing in 30 seconds. so now we need 520 checkers.

then they have to know that a fully restored 1957 chevy is worth more than 5000.00
and then on the next listing they check they have to know that a new gold Spanish coin is worth more than 50.00.
yes friends there is more to ebay than just cars and parts.

it frustrates me when i search for a wheel for a 58 triumph and i get a ton of listings for honda wheels.
but really its not NCIS its reality. there are just too many listings with too many variables to be able to police it fully.

if you cans can write some code that fixes it you can be the next multi millionaire.

I guess the question is then, if you cant provide a safe service, should you be allowed to provide that service?

My youngest son writes software programs/algorithims exactly like this and he is not a millionaire but his boss is. If you are in california there are probably young people in the coffee shop queues that do this all day long as its the tech capital of th USA.
No one does manual anymore. Especially ebay!

Because the scum are using hijacked accounts - the listing fee goes to the hijacked account holder. By the time the real account holder notices that his account has been hijacked the scumbags have moved on to another hijacked account.

Surely a company as big as this, knowing that this activity takes place so often, should be seen as culpable? .
One thing that usually seems to be common on these ads is that the location is usually “ at UK”, this linked with that they must list these all at once should be a giveaway for them to track.
I also surf eBay USA a lot and don’t think I have seen them there.

my point is ebay is a pretty good service.
    its not perfect.
the amount of volume is simply massive.
but compared to how we used to do things by advertising in paper periodicals, its a lot better.
they do have some code to try and stop the bad actors.
as quick as they re-write the code, the bad guys find a way around it.
its unfair to think that there is some magic lines of code that will rid us of the bad guys.
when you find them report them.
did you know that when ebay bans you they ban you by your IP address and not your user name?
