    garage fire extinguishers... whats best

    getting myself settled in the garage and thinking as its a timber frame i should get my hands on some fire extinguishers seems like theres loads of second hand ones on e-bay but what kind would i need?
    anyone help!

    the biggest you can find,also always keep a hose attached to your outside tap if you have one, and make sure it reaches the garage.....

    If you are only going to have one type, go for powder. Had a few little misshaps over the years, co2 is nice does the job with no mess, but as Bob shows there's a few things in the garage they are not suitable for. Only trouble is powder seems to make more mess than the fire itself. Whatever you get I hope you never have to use it.

    thanks for the tips guys, think im better with a mixture of types, done some reading and the powder ones will bugger up electronics on anything thats in the garage, as the particals are so small plus you need proper clean up crew as a hoover wpnt pick it up. c02 is clean but can also spread a liquid fire by blowing it round the place!

    ask at your local fire station , they may be able to point you to a local supplier , rather than buying from ebay , at least you can tell them what you (hopefully) will never need it for...
