I saw redoxides post ( hello mate) in wanted on here the other day. Chitty still looking for a running rod within his budget and Ian saying " that's project money nowdays " says it all really .

LOL . Nope you'll know when it's me ,. I have at least one, possibly two petrol tanks I'd like you to do when I get them measured up.

    Was the job a 32B roadster ?

I made the mistake of putting my old Fury into a local classic shop to change a rear pinion oil seal , dead simple job , the quoted £100 , ended up being £200 for nothing extra done. Mate put a Consul Capri in there for his petrol tank to be fixed . Cost him £200 for them to tell him his tank was leaking, didn't even quote to fix it. He TOLD them it was leaking when he took it in !

Or someone else local that tried to charge £2400 for making a pair of rear fender brackets ...when queried he knocked it down to £1800 cos they were mates. Way too many sharks round here . Those that I know who would have trusted are all passed on and the remainers not interested cos it would mean them actually having to do work. Then there's all the ****ers I've helped for years ( for nothing )that have all gone deaf.

EDIT. Should say one mate from 30 odd years back is helping one day a week within his abilities, cheers Mario.

no it was a pick up truck. centre support bearing had broke on the prop.
delivered on sat, prop in prop shop monday, back tues, and fitted with new support bracket to chassis

sparky in to fit larger alternator and swap from three to one wires, and fit volt gauge.

    driven out home following sat.

nice and easy. and one happy customer

dont particuly like one day jobs as its a pain to move everything out to get them in,but if folks are willing to pay a full days rate, ill do them when asked.

i usually ask what customers pay elsewhere. its amazing what folks charge for stuff, and what customers pay.

£50 an hour PLUS vat . I even made the tool for them to lock it against the frame . Only reason it went to them is I simply couldn't get the nut to budge. Even used the cars own weight to attempt to get it to turn without success.
