This is really good news.Ive got a good pal of mine battling a nasty bout of the big C ,and its horrible just watching him struggle ,yet not being able to help.
I understand your choice of keeping it to yourself, but do the rest of us a favour.Tell us what symptoms, signs etc to look out for. Many of us on here are at a very dangerous age( im 52) and i see and hear of so many fighting this ******* thing.

Sorry to hear about your pal,I have some friends nearby me too, there seems like an epidemic here at the moment,or is just that you are more aware when you or someone close is affected.

I had a slight unrinary problem ,that tuned out not to be related to the cancer and none of the listed PC symptoms,it was mainly just a suspicion or a feeling more than anything to go to the GP.I went bracing myself for the digit examination ,but my GP just did a PSA (prostate specific antigen) blood test first. That came back slightly high for my age at 5.04, then came the finger exam where he found nothing, followed by a biopsy which picked it up.
It's worth noting that a high PSA does not always indicate cancer, and that a standard 12 core biopsy (I had 13 ?)is not as accurate as a ' template' biopsy which takes more cores.

I'm sorry to hear you had this problem mate, glad to hear its a good prognosis, you will be surprised how many Hot Rodders have had the same or similar issues, kev and i had many discussions last year with my Bladder issues etc, having a catherta for 4 months was the worst time for myself last year, as was the Operation which was not the answer i hoped for. I have some idea as many do, and to be fair it helps to talk about it, i only wish more men would talk about problems down below as the support is their.
Best wishes on the recovery Ian, glad you opened up about it as well, as i said their are quite a few of us with issues down their.

It is the natural reticence to admit that you may be ill that kills far too many men. Prostate cancer is as big a killer as breast cancer but is very treatable when caught early. 'You' think you've problem ? Well ignoring it WON'T fix it !!
