    Yes, RIP.

I remember buying my first Haynes manual in about 1973 for my BSA Bantam. In the pre-interweb days his manuals could be the only ready source of information on a vehicle. These days I'd go on ebay and try and get an original works manual which is usually more comprehensive. However, that was the point - his manuals were presented in an easily digestible form for folk who didn't necessarily want ultimate detail.

Great museum a few miles down the road from here in Sparkford.

Awarded the OBE, but should have had a Knighthood for what he did for British balance of payments.

    RIP

I think the first one I bought would have been in about '77 for my Escort 1300L - had to change the clutch on it. In later life I have always preferred the OEM factory manuals but they're still a good cross-reference even when using one of them.

    RIP

The company has had to adapt somewhat in more recent years now that cars are increasingly difficult to work on at home - I wonder what the future holds for Haynes Publishing?
