Hello Guys..Have an easy question I hope...My pop has 2 horns a standard and a Dukes of Hazzard. I have just bounght a Klaxton Horn and want to change it with the normal horn. Will this pass MOT? 1959 Ford Pop Thanks in Advance
As far as i know it should be ok, unless it has changed fairly recently the rules state a warning device.
However shouting "get out the fucking way" out of the window whilst may have the desired effect, doesnt actually qualify.:incheek:
If i dont see a more difinative answer posted up by monday i will check with my MOT tester and let you know his take on it.
Thanks for that Russ...I am going to keep my "normal horn" on but disconnect it and replace with the Klaxon horn. Would like to remove it but I can put the connectors back on for the test but an answer would be great..Thanks Grahame
Something just cropped up so had to phone my MOT man, whilst on the phone asked about hooter he says "as long as it makes a noise it is a warning device end of" I dont know if all testers will interpret the rules the same. That said my man is very sypathetic to the cause and where possible will always interpret the rules (though not break them) for the most favourable outcome.
I had an old military siren fail mot once as it didn't make a difinitive 'instant' noise when you hit the button. I could see his point as it was more of a slow audial build up meaning you had to hold on to the button awhile to wind it up!
The definition of the law is that the horn must emit a single tone . Musical horns are illegal on any car UNLESS fitted before about '75 from memory when the law came in but wasn't retrospective.
