Need to register car , but don't want to insure it for a year. Suggestions please.

Hi all, I've got a Nova, a V5/55 and an MoT on my newly imported '68 Mustang fastback and want to register it. I need to show insurance however, and the car since being MoTed is being stripped down for paint etc. It's securely stored and insured by my restorer/sprayers. How can I get around the need to pay for a year's insurance in order to get a number plate from DVLA? Not being tight, but don't want to throw my money away either. Thanks. J

Understand were your coming from about not wanting to throw money away but reckon you would be able to insure this for £150 a year max so just bite the bullit as its not much money on the grand scheme of things amd you also have piece of mind if anything the sprayers/ restorers insurance may not cover, or the other way may be cough..cough insure it get what you need and cancell insurance, it will still cost a bit for admin but another option.

We can look at a laid up policy too. It'll cover you for the year but just Accidental damage, fire and theft from the garage with no road use. They don't cost much and might be a good compromise.

If you do get moving before the end of the policy, a quick call can upgrade it for mileage.
