2 post ramp (got 3 in my workshop) and they are much easier to get around as opposed to the 4 post bradbury ramp i also have (soon to be replaced with another 2 post and up for sale for £300)
My reasoning? They have a smaller footprint and you store other cars under them without the ramp plates (fitted to most 4 posters) restricting head height and getting in the way.

You will get tired of getting in and out of that pit quite rapidly

Pits are hard to install, can be dark, can be just not quite deep enough for some jobs and too deep for others, can be damp or fill with water, have nowhere to put your tea, can trap dangerous gasses, be fallen into, get you trapped when those gasses ignite whilst welding, be driven into, be all of those things and others at once.

Not sure if I really like a pit....
Whirrr whirrr chuff chuff de chuff........chuff......BRUMMMM!

Saw this style at the classic motor show, I thought they were pretty good as they dont take up much floor space and plus the fact that you can wheel them out of the way.

i've looked at them too. ideal for a bodyshop as you can access 3/4 of the way round the vehicle to work on it while in the air.
    neil.
need a job done on your project? i may be able to help.

Pits are what they are hence the term "the pits" referring to the poor sod who was on the bottom end of a cross cut saw back in the old days (even before the 1970's) it would probably cost more in construction and concrete than a cheap 2 post ramp, as essentially you will have to construct a deep reinforced footing around the pit and tank it (waterproofing) ramps on the other hand are only any good if you have the headroom to operate them, as for that one sided affair, I'd be very concerned about that and a decent size car.....
Just a passer by as you might say.
