A Rolls hauling a mole drainer that would have been worth seeing. Mind you I wonder how many on here know what a mole drainer is.

The mole drainer that Mattblack mention would have been a powered chain bucket machine normally drawn behind a tractor in straight lines across a field towards ditches. This would have made a trench about 6" (150 mm) wide not sure of the depth but would have though 3 or 4 feet (900 - !200 mm) deep. Into this was dropped lengths clay pipes about 12" (300 mm) long. Originally this would have been done by a man with an L shape pole though later this was done by the machine. The idea is that when there is more rain than the ground can handle it soaks down to the gaps between the pipes then along the pipes to the ditch. Here Endeth The Lesson.

    Amazing info !!!

    I feel alive!!!!
Amazing what a day at the garage can do. It's been a ****y winter - rained since October. I froze my butt off, grazed me knuckles and got brake fluid on me overalls but it felt darn good.

    Bring on the spring
