Dont be too quick to knock the modern four pot motor! I went to the rwyb at the pod today (open to anything) saw many four pot motors run pretty quick times, 1 being a renault 5 gt turbo which was pretty much stock apart fom stripped out for racing, it run a 12.3! And a pretty serious fwd drag racer rover 25 running close to the 9's!

oh yeah there were both road legal too! That aint to shabby in my opinion!

that little 5 turbo is my mates brothers, very impressive and running a stock turbo i think..they just weigh nothing! my mate scott has his little renault 5turbo aswell which ran into the 13's :D great little cars......from what ive seen with alot of modern four pots tho with big power, there expensive and just brake alot  but still great with what they can achieve.

Yeah there's some very fast small engine stuff out there now. An upcoming common thing in America within the import circles, is racing the Honda Civic's with slicks on the front and they're in the 9's and probably faster.

FWD is still a bit wrong though. But they're getting there even if they use wheelie bars to keep weight on the front wheels.

Hopefully the little 1.8 4 banger that I've built up and dropped in this Bluebird should prove to be over 450bhp.

i do agree,we can all be surprised about the performance of some of these four pots,i m sure lots of folk saw that little blue escort outperforming many of the large displacement motors at the hot rod drags a few weeks back.i believe it was vauxhall powered?
i dont think the little guy in his srt4 was going to surprise anyone though,he just sat there until his clutch was history.:shake:
