Self Employed Income Support Scheme . . .

Anyone tried to register for this and had problems?
Tried to register today and gave all the usual details / tax ref / log on ID / Password / received an access code by text and entered that and then had 3 further security options:
One is for people with a current passport - don't have one as I haven't been out of the country since 1980 (in fact I haven't even been holiday in this country since 1983!)
One is for people with photocard Driving Licence - don't have one because my original is still valid for another 9 years.
The third option is to pass id by answering questions about loans / credit cards / mobile phone contacts - which are then checked with a credit reference agency. Well, I answered the 3 questions givenCORRECTLY and apparently failed on more than one answer!!!!!!!!!!

Have to wait 2 days to be contacted (supposedly) or 24 hours to try again.

Thing is, my other half then registered and she was allowed through without any additional security whatsoever !!!!

Funny how I never fail security or get asked extra questions when I pay my tax bill twice a year and my VAT every 3 months . . . . . .

Yeah I had a look yesterday but it was telling me I had to be registered with a different tax account, or something like that. My accountant deals with all that so I will have to ask her.

I registered yesterday with no problem. It told me I can now apply on 14 May but I've been told that other people have been given different dates which I guess makes sense

I got as far as logging in and entering my national insurance number but when I tried to log on with my Gateway it wouldn't have it (it also said I am eligible for a grant but should apply on May 14th)

Think I might have established the problem. Three main credit reference agencies are Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. It seems that HMRC use TransUnion. You can download a 'Statutory Credit Check' from all of these free of charge. I have downloaded all 3. The Expirian and Equifax reports both have the correct information re loans, credit cards and mobile phone contract which is how I've answered the questions on the HMRC site. However, much of the up to date information doesn't appear on the TransUnion report which the HMRC are checking my answers against which is why I guess I failed their security. I will try again this afternoon using the info on the TransUnion report to answer the security questions and see how I get on.

If you need to obtain your report you can get it here:

HMRC using the least up to date system, well there’s a surprise
