i get a bit of paper and start drawing ,til it looks roughly right .then look at similar cars to see whether there proprtions are similar to mine . basically i assume i am wrong , so check with others , it usually works out to be pretty close .

basic idea principle ...is i make a car or bike design that has not been done before , so i can drive a unique vehicle , and know that as i drive it its a unique bit of test piloting i am doing , i find this very exciting .

also the scrap metal i can get my hands on decides a lot of the detail.

also the tools i have available , my latest project i built bodywise using solely a 115mm angle grinder a 150 a mig and 1963 lathe .vice , tin snips ,a bag of sand ,and a hammer.any heavy plate cutting out was drilled and ground .

i often have little idea how to solve a problem until i go into the cave and offer up bits of metal from the scrap bin ,,and sometimes look back later on and think that was way better than i expected .

a key help is to always realise whatever you do can be changed later , and not to worry about opinions .

    regards
    robert

I get an idea what I want and then see if I can do it. I male most of it up as I go along and normally do everything twice because the firs idea either didn’t work or looked ****.
I too have limited tools and very limited knowledge.......but very willing to have a go and because I’m a stubborn ******* that won’t let anything beat me I end up doing a half decent job.
As for inspiration, I tend to look at stuff that isn’t my cup of tea and wonder how different it would look if I’d done it.

    Cool

Yeah, sounds like a lot of the fun is in the details! Challenges to overcome with thought, grazed knuckles and bits of metal - man and machine at their finest

I kinda look at style I'm in to and dot along. It's all been done before and I have no desire to reinvent the wheel - no pun intended.

As an ancient art student (i'm ancient), after 1000's of years of art we came to cut up livestock yah de yah. And now the most lucrative, Banksy is a rip off of the very first form of art, Cave Painting social comments. Lol

    Full circle

But now I have some kind of creative crisis. In a week I have to speak at a business school with a match. On the topic of business, where to start, what difficulties await novice businessmen and I can not write a good speech. Everything I write I don't like. I was already thinking about buy speeches online. Found several services that offer such services. But on the other hand I want to share my experience. But I think if I buy speech, it would be unfair to those who come to listen to me.
    Difficult situation.

I usually get good ideas while in the bath, then go look at what im working on and make a good idea stupidly difficult to manufacture, been working on my new rod and I don't want any visible suspension, seemed simple to start with but its getting more complex as no visible springs, shocks or rods, all going to be hidden torsion bars with friction shocks. all my simple ideas end up complicated.
