We have one like Sqweaka, it works extremely well on one pc but does not support the protocol that the other pc seems to want to use. I will say that the PC that does not work is a very old one. We live right on the edge of mobile coverage but don't have the option of fibre or cable so we have to use the mobile network. The only way we get a decent signal is with the wifi box outside. Without a repeater this arrangement won't work as we can't then get the wifi signal from the wifi box to the pcs. We use the repeater in the house but near the box and it then works extremely well with wifi being receivable across the whole house. PS the wifi box is in a waterproof container when it lives outside, health and safety executive take note.
    Hope that helps.

Have you considered moving the Wifi router to a different location. You can unplug the router from the phone line then plug it in somewhere else and use one of the free wifi apps to evaluate the signal strength, I use Meraki on an Android Phone, inSSIDer on an iPhone and Network Stumbler on a laptop, once you find a decent location just extend the telephone cable to reach it. The Wifi Router will radiate a signal without being connected to the telephone line, and opening a browser session to your default gateway will give you the router login page, if you don't know your default gateway address try http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.1.254 or message me and I'll tell you how to find it.

Adding an extender is OK but it's something else to go wrong so I avoid them if I can, cables are cheaper as well, the cable that connects mine at home is about 15 mtrs long.

If you are at the NEC have a look up and the big dustbin lid sized Wifi Antennas were installed by us

If you tell me how long you need the cable to be I'll make one up and send it to you.

I've got a signal booster for my car from myamplifiers.com, works pretty well - no background noise, and the signal seems to be really improved... I don't know if that's the operator's fault, the network seems to be really sporadic in my area.
