workshop heating
hopefully moving to bigger workshop soon so looking to put heating in there as it will be about 1000 sqft .
need some ins and outs from hands on experience of most effective hassle free and cost effective heating systems , don't want to go log burner but have seen the industrial ones that run on old oil or wood . anyone have any true figures of the costings to run something through the winter ??
naked frame log burner is out of the question for obvious reasons !! any advice appreciated

Have you thought about having an air conditioning unit put in.
These do heat as well, and have been told they are cheap to run

I heat my paint shop with 4 off atex approved tube heaters, due to spray solvent etc.
The rest of the shop (4000sq/ft) is via open flame propane.
If your place is heavy with sovent fume then electric may be the only way to go.
Try the infra red radiant heaters i have 2 2.2kw ones that i use in my paint booth for quick heating and to knock the chill off rapidly. Bought them on ebay for 30 quid each.
My bullfinch propane heater costs a bottle of gas a month (60 quid)

I have 2 of those, one on the living room one in the bedroom.
look up Pioneer split system or mini split. A/C in the summer and heat pump in the winter, and dead easy to install yourself.
No idea what they will cost in electricity as mine are hooked up to my solar panels and battery bank so cost me bugger all to run summer or winter
