American heartbeat 1965 mustang, the real story

Over the years that I have had my mustang, I have been asked several times, why my car is called American heartbeat, when Chevrolet used the heartbeat of America ad campaign, people seem to think that I took the name for my mustang from the Chevrolet ad, not true, Chevrolet ran that ad from 1987 till 1994, I took the name for my mustang from the band, survivor, which released the single American heartbeat in 1982 from the album " eye of the tiger" the heart of a car is the engine, so for me American heartbeat, seemed to fit the car. Maybe boring, but true

Hi mopar, I was asked on friday, before I left for the nats, by I guy that I have known for donkeys years, and it just occurred to me that, he must have thought that since the name was put on the mustang in 1987 cheers Steve

best to put it straight, i wouldn't have thought for one minute you would have named it something that was in any way related to a chevy!!

That is the point mopar the name was in my head for a car from the time that the single by survivor was released in 1982' three years before the Chevy ad campaign, in fact it was going to be put on my m2 zodiac with a 260 sbf engine, but sadly I rolled the car, when the bonnet came up at 90 mph on the a127 on my way home from the Rayleigh weir Eric,s meet one tuesday evening around 1984/85.

Thank you Gary, when I got back to my car on Sunday afternoon after the show n shine, I got in the mustang, and saw an envelope with the words winner on it, I just thought, how can my car be a winner when it,s not a show car by any stretch of the imagination, it,s just a clean ex race car. I have got to say out of all the trophies that I have won when the car was in competition, and a few car shows over the years, this means the most to me, because of the quality of the cars at the show
