    1928 Chevy Beach Racer.

I bought a second '28 Chevy for spares, all the good parts have been put on my stock '28.

I now have a shed full of not so good spares, but not enough for a complete car, seems a waste them just sitting on shelves and I need a project, then I saw this, absolute perfection!

    So it began..

Spare original '28 Chevy frame, spot the bowed r/h rail, and less bowed l/h one. It has a ton of bondo over whatever skulduggery lies beneath.

I looked loads of '28 Chevy speedsters but because the chassis is so much wider at the back they don't do it for me style wise.

This and the fact that anyone wanting '28 Chevy spares will already have a chassis is my lame excuse for surgery...

Love it! What a great project. The more basic, the better it'll be.

    Bent chassis rail to fix..

    DSCF1135 (2).jpg

Other side not so bad and harder to fix without kinking so leaving that alone.

    DSCF1136.jpg

Forced the bad side straight by time honoured but brutal means.

    DSCF1139.jpg

That caused some bondo to crack so I sanded it off, and this is why I don't feel guilty about cutting this 90 yr old chassis!
Brutal 9"grinder gouges and deep cuts where the bolts have been cut off, all under a ton of bondo, no telling what else is hiding.

    DSCF1259.jpg

All straight and adjusting the width with threaded rods, width arrived at by the width of the clutch housing which has to fit in between.
Springs are going on the outside of the chassis instead of underneath.
