    1937 Rover 10 build

Hello Chaps, I thought I'd post a few pics of my long term project. I've had the car for about 5 years but only started working on it again properly around 6 months ago. this is how it looked then

since then I have sorted the engine

I then adapted a ZF Tranny

I have now fitted the pair and fabricated the exhaust fannymoulds

Thanks the motor is a 4.5l Daimler majestic major motor. I first saw one in my brothers mates pop in the mid seventies. Had to have one ever since. The car had a pinto in when I got it (too small and don't sound right). Couldn't find a motor sobuilt the car around a SP250 lump (one web site said the motors were almost identical in size - same bore spacing). After a couple of months the right motor came up and you guessed it 3" longer 3"
Wider and 3" taller ( bugger- it don't fit). Same time I was made redundant and parked the project up (still collecting bits as I could afford). six months ago I finished the garage extension so had no excuse.
I have run out of money again for a while but I wil still make whatever I can (I'm lucky to have a small mill, lathe, tig, mig etc). I am currently adapting some consul hubs/discs to the firenza front end (I know it's not very trad- but it's what I got) as the viva hubs were converted to 5 stud ford very poorly and my Radirs didn't fit too well. I'm still in the process of adapting the tranny (I need to make a small hub to hold a range rover flexplate 39 mm away Fromm the Daimler flexplate), making a belt tensioner for the water pump and welding and redrilling the water manifold to take a chevy t/stat housing. Then its prop, floor and pedals and away we go.
I want a painted and finished rod but I also would like to drive it oneday so it might be a little ratty to start....

Had an f***ing nightmare. Wanted to start the engine and listen to the exhaust, first time in 5 years. Cobbled up a throttle linkage and TV connection. Made dipstick tubes and dipsticks. Filled the engine with oil. Filled
The gearbox- you guessed it - litres of trans fluid on the floor from breather. I only put in 5 litres and supposed to hold 9. And I know I drained it. Fitted the radiator or sieve as its now known- bugger. Jerry rigged a fuel supply and ignition wiring. Low and behold the battery hasn't enough grunt. Oh well! I'm giving up for a while.
