Yep, I know, first it's working, then it isn't.

I did try the spark test, but I need my other half to check the spark plug, as I can't see it when I turn the ignition.

    Just a process of elimination.

once broke down in a transit in a busy high street a night. Local homeless guy offers to help, I ask him to hold the HT lead with the pliers and watch for a spark. I turn it over and he start shouting his head off, he was holding the HT in one had and the pliers in another. Now I've got a transit broken down surrounded by **** heads and tramp who wants to fight me.

Try 'Easy start' down the carb. It should chunter and want to go, but won't! That'll tell you if the spark is there.
If I wasn't meant to go that fast, the pedal would only go half way!

Well if the tramp was ****ed, it must of sobered him up pretty damn quick.

That reminds me of a painful memory when I was 17 on a YTS course, remember them?
I was doing the course at a garage, when one of the *older* student/unemployed oik, suggested I clean out an HT lead with me finger.

Shocking thing to do, and never did it again.

Anyway, I found out why the moggy won't start, a knackered fuel pump. After disconnecting the fuel line to the carb, I ran the pump, clicking away and pulling fuel into the filter. However, bugger all at the end of the line. Blockage? No, as I took the line off, and blew down it. Leaving one conclusion, need a new pump, but I am thinking putting in another filter before the carb.

The other pic shows the new rear view mirror that came today, as the one had a suction cup on it, and wouldn't stay on.

I mount facet pumps as low as possible so they're primed and on rubber bobbins to isolate some of the noise

where the rubber hose is jubbly clipped to the bottom of the filter i've had those filters close right down when they 'warm up' and the plastic softens, the pressure from the clip just squeezes the inlet/outlet blocking the flow of fuel. at the very least the flow through the smallest 'tail'of the filter must be reduced.
need a job done on your project? i may be able to help.

Love the 1:1 Mr Evil ! Economical ( relatively ...) motor and spot on paint colour .
I nearly had a Moggy Traveller that blue once ( needed new dog legs and I had no workspace all for £300 !)
Re the HT leads . Yep , I fell for that " Hilarious stitch up " too !
It was a Jag V12 (I think.... !) , Bzzzzz "You wa.... hang on a minute.... " pop , pop , pop of the caps from the dizzy (x 11 ) :- Sort that lot out you git !

BTW uber cool .. careful where you say that , it could be mis-understood ! LOL
