It is damn heavy and it does not bolt sideways through the chassis rail but through the cross member. It would have been much easier to narrow the BMW crossmember to fit the Chevy instead of using the original one but I really wanted to keep the standard look.

Completed the braking system, I mounted the bellcrank system from the BMW but due to the recess in the bulkhead it needed to be set back so the bar could work from the pedals. I made a ring about 3" which is the maximum amount the servo would go back without having a hole the size of the diaphram,

I made a hole in the bulkhead and made a bolting plate for the servo etc and welded it all in

After shortening the push rod it all works as it should.

I have made the brackets to hold the column in place

I Found a very useful item for future builds, the BMW has a sliding connecting shaft which can be adjusted by undoing the brass clamping nut, it also works as a sliding joint in the case of an accident which is taken into account for BIVA.

I have shortened the gear linkage so it does not foul the seats, it is an alloy casing so I made a steel sleeve and bolted it through, not pretty but functional

Looking good Rich. What have you done about aligning steering with IFS as it was all set for R&P originally?

The box has the steering arm pointing to the rear so it aligns with the steering arms at the rear ( to be bent for Ackerman latter) the track control arms attach to the draglink in line with the pivot points on the IRS. I have not modified the track control arms yet but I do not expect any bump steer.

Just a quick update on this weekends work.

part made the gearbox mounting, I will finish it off when the body comes off the chassis I used the origonal BMW one and built some turrets off the chevy cross member.

Finished off the gearbox tunnel and made a hole for the shortened linkage.

Finished off the drivers side sill where it goes under the wing

Completed the passenger side sill all the way along, just a bit more small bits of fabrication and the body is all solid ready to come off the chassis.

Not a bad result for 5 weeks of building

Early '40's Chevvies are some of my most favourite cars. Keep the good work up and best of luck!

It IS finished, BIVA'ed, taxed and MOT'd, been driven across several continents, had three different colour changes and is now sat at the back of one of Rich's quite substantial sheds to make room for the other three he has already started! Rich just drip feeds the build phot's to make it seem as if he's still building it....otherwise we'd all get REALLY dissollusioned with his work rate and shut our garages forever!!!
I'm so happy i could just SHIT
