    59 Chevy Biscayne

Thought i'd start a small thread on my 59 Biscayne now ive (sensibly) decided to keep the ol girl....

I expect this wont be a quick resto as my shifts will really dictate how much time i get to work on the ol girl ....

Originally she was an inline 6 with manual 3 on the tree, but, she now runs a 350 V8 with TH350 auto.

I bought her from Fleet in Hampshire and had her shipped up to me in North east Scotland.

I did have her up for sale ,but, after being messed about with time wasters and managing to sort a few other jobs out in the meantime ive decided to keep the ol girl and give her the attention she deserves.......

    Any how, off we go............

    This be the ol girl.....

Shame she dont look like that^^^ now.....

Decided to start work by stripping out the trunk as i knew for sure that this area needed work.........

The complete trunk floor had been covered in fibre glass and painted black.....

So,after digging this all out i was faced with this..........

Which is 7 separate sheets of steel cut , shaped, drilled and rivetted in under the fribre glass ( i am sure it would have been quicker to do the repair properly with new panels than do all this lot ^^^^)

After chopping that lot out i am now left with this.......

I saw this for sale and thought it had the makings of a really nice car.
Can you still get body panels for these? What are your plans?

Yes you can still get most of the panels.

Plans are to totally replace what needs cutting out and replacing, full interior, full new respray and colour change.... and then drive the living day lights out of it

Although,if my Wife got her way, the ol girl would be sold......

I had to do the same repairs to a 60 Impala (including lower rear quarters), on that I also had to replace the crossmember under the bootfloor that ran parallel to the bumper, by sheer chance I discovered that 2 1/2" galvanised electrical square trunking was the ideal size, with the ends re-profiled to match the original. While the panels fitted quite well (and were the correct thickness), the pressings were not as "sharp" as original and on the external panels I had to use a hammer & dolly to improve them. It's worth joining Chevy Talk - Chevy / Chevy Message Boards for the Chevy Enthusiast as what they don't know isn't worth knowing, some real knowledgeable Chevy guys on there.
