    '67 Black 'bird - LS Conversion

    Hi all,

    Newbie here, thanks for the warm welcome! Finally bought myself something American so thought I'd upload a few pictures of the build.

    Originally bought as something just to drive around but it's slowly progressed into a mild rolling restoration/restomod. Bought from a guy in Scotland as a fresh import from Texas. Surprisingly good condition for her age. Some work already complete before purchase so it's just finishing the job off the way I want it. Pictures to follow!

    Pictures of the car as delivered. The steering very loose but that turned out to be a perished rag joint. Aside from that, the car drove pretty well, especially for something that is now 50 years old. Even though it's technically not "great" by modern standards it's great fun to drive!

    I was a bit worried that the body on the 50 year old car would end up a money pit so before I spent any money on the rest I took the car to a great guy locally to get it checked over and resprayed. I spent ages deliberating over the colour but in the end I settled on black (unimaginative I know but I'm really happy with the results). Here's a few pictures of the spray job. Couldn't find the early ones, I'll see if they're on my old phone.

    And a few pictures of the car in it's current state. Still lots to do, but it's currently driveable.

    Next steps over the coming months are;

    - LS1 conversion with T56 gearbox
    - Electric Fuel Pump to support EFI system
    - Electric Fan and LS style cooling system
    - Quick Ratio Power Steering Upgrade (seems the IROC-Z 12.7:1 “XH code” high effort box is a common upgrade that comes recommended so I'll try that first)
    - Amber Rear Turn Signal Upgrade (keep it legal!)

    As you can probably see in the pictures, she's riding a little high so I'll look at upgrading the suspension when the new engine goes in. The LS1 is significantly lighter than the Pontiac 326 so no doubt it'll raise the front end even higher!

    Thanks for all the kind comments! Yeah it's not bad at all on the UK roads!

    Project has stalled for a month due to work commitments, however the engine should be coming out imminently now to make room for the new lump. I'll post the full specs in the for sale section asap. Anyone who's interested is more than welcome to swing by and have a look. Based just outside of Coventry UK.
