Alvis project

My 1949 Alvis TA14 Sport Saloon Project, rescued from a garage in Neath where it was stored for 26 years. Metal work is solid although a little rough around the edges, woodwork rotten and will be replaced with metal. Not going to chop but will be replacing all the running gear, axles etc from leaf springs and mechanical brakes for something safer and more reliable. Chassis solid, interior no good except for door cards. Fitting a 2 litre pinto engine with 5 speed gearbox. Wil post more as and when.

Any help appreciated - trying to figure out a front and rear suspension setup at the mo

Any and all opinions welcome

haha maybe but it is too bad to restore, and ive wanted to custom build something for while now instead of restoring

we havnt done anything to it yet, hes still deciding wether its a good idea or not

Loose a couple of doors - stretch the existing ones, loose the door frames, make it a pillarless coupe, drop it down in the weeds a bit, perhaps a discrete roof chop and that will have all the class of one of those early 50's Park Ward Bentley Mk5's - 2 litre Pinto ? - a bit light on cylinders, eh ?

yeah but im not going for all out performance or mega bucks just something that can take me where i need and still look good and old at the same time maybe sometime down the road will change to V8 but not now, funnily enough your not the first to mention making it a coupe ive never done anything on this sort of scale before so a little reluctant but will have to have a think. Its a long way off yet but colour wise thinking of an Orange / Yellow with a pearl middle following the lines already on the car

Coupe it, Chop it, Slam it, V8 it, Dont paint it. Lose the fenders, Lose the hood sides.

But hey ....... Its not mine. Whatever you do to it, It gonna be pretty cool n unusual.
