Here's the best example Ive found so far:

Presumably it should be historic as its 1979?
But its up for nearly 3 grand on ebay!
I suppose I could try selling the kitcar on, unregistered, to recoup some funds.
BUT.... surely must be a cheaper way.
I may live in East London, I may have a number plate that reads "Chopt", but I do NOT use 6" wheel spacers!

The only one I can think off is a Herald or could you use the floor pan from a monocoque and build the body into it?? Bedford Rascal has a 1/2 chassis but 40 years old? I do have a chassis plate from a Dutton , not sure if my friend still has the log book but it was a Q plate.

Thank you, but this afternoon I followed up an ad and phoned someone, discovered a guy who has a load of Reliant Kittens!
I explained what I was doing, looks quite hopeful, and not too much money.
Maybe another "hire a van trip" is coming on!

Cant believe it's over a month since I posted on this.
There has been some progress, I got a free radiator which looks ideal size and is in good condition, it has a nice shroud to which I can fit a fan which I have lying around.

Have cleaned up, treated, and painted metal on inside of shell, just in process of doing outside now.

At some point, someone had "repaired " the ragged wheel arches by pop riveting ally sheet over the top. Still have rivet holes. There were a couple of places where there was some paint left, when I took this off with the rhino disc it surprised me with shiny metal underneath. Everywhere else very orange with rust.

Still talking to my Reliant man about getting a Kitten chassis.

I had convinced myself that all the missing bits would be too hard to find/too expensive.
So Saturday I was planning to fabricate the spare wheel cover, just before I began I took a quick look on ebay, just in case, and, to my surprise, there was one on there for only £15! Up past Norwich though, and stated "collection only". Then I saw a pair of front wings, a bonnet and a grille shell from the same seller. I won the lot this afternoon, and for a bargain price, so snatched a packet of biscuits and a kiss from my Lovely Lorna before dashing out the door and up the M11 in a moment of impromptuness. There was a big sign, I think it said "beware of extreme weather" or something, but I couldn't see it clearly in the heavy rain. The seller had 6 complete Austin 7's, was helpful to look at them, trying to take note of all the bits that are missing on mine. The 6 hour round trip was worth it to grab all these bits.

Just had time to take this naff photo when I got home, must mock up these bits on the shell one day soon.
    Pleased with my new goodies!

    Thanks Steve, Ivanheow, Blackpop.
Yesterday I got a 135 14 space saver tyre free, had it put on one of the Mgb wheels

Even so, this is bigger than the bicycle-like wheels originally on the Ruby, but with a bit of adjustment the rear wheel cover goes on - almost.

Also tried a very hasty attempt at mocking up my "new" front end.

Front wings are so small, weigh almost nothing.
I was a bit worried, taking it into the garden for this photo, cos it was raining, I would be upset if it went rusty.

Slightly pointless, mocking up at this stage when I don't even have the chassis to see what problems that will throw up, but it felt good.
