    Building a bobber

Thought I would share the build up of my little Kawasaki 550 bobber project.

This is the bike as purchased last week.

    After the stripdown

With Harley front wheel and back of frame cut off.

I have also knocked up a jig to use when I cut the whole of the rear of the frame off to manufacture a hard-tail.

I will post more pics as I progress.

    Next Stage

The frame is on the jig.

    Located at frame rails.

    Located at Front wheel spindle.

    Rear axle plates fitted.

Harley tank and bars tried for size. Rear axle plates installed on jig.

    First cut is the deepest!!!

    More to follow.

is there a reason you didnt just build from scratch.
    isnt frame no on headstock.

    youre rear wheel plates.
if the holes are fixed how do you adjust the chain.
    just curious.
look forward to the rest of the build.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Answers to questions as follows:

The axle plates are slotted to allow the chain to be adjusted. This is going to be a quick build so the easiest thing to do was source a complete donor bike and use as much as possible from the frame including all the existing engine mounts etc. It was also easier to set up in a jig using the stock front end.

You asked for more, well here goes.

Here's the bottom rails bent up and tacked in place.

Next one shows the frame spine extended with new tubing.

This last one shows the top rails bent up and tacked in place.

That's me up to date with the pics. More fabrication tomorrow night.
