Looks good, I had 400lb springs on the front of the Escort even with a small block Chevy the ride was to hard, have 250lb now and feels great now, front can dive and transfer weight for braking.
    Cheers vin

i now have 650lbs on the front and 450lbs on the rear and at the moment all the coilovers are at there softest setting and it feels pretty good. i dont know if its the position of the coilover but any softer springs in im having to use up most of the adjustment just to hold the car at ride height and thats with the correct length coilover .

but i guess i wont really know until i drive it in the next few weeks.

Looking at your front suspension I think the coilovers are mounted too far away from the end of the wishbones. The leverage on them is very high so you need stiff springs to hold the car up. If you are able to move the mounts further out from the chassis I think you will find softer springs will hold it up fine.

    cheers blackpopracing,
it seemed a good idea when i built the car but as you say the bottom of the shock could do with moving out. i have done that on the fastback and that runs 450lbs and that is ok.

no, no room to move the top mounts.

good progress this week, as the t3 turbo has a smaller mounting flange than the t4 i have had to put two sets of studs in the mounting cradle.

then put bolted it all together.

with that done i mounted it back in to the engine bay and connected it back up.

i have also modded the exhaust down pipe as the t3 turbo has a 21/2" out let so the v band connector wanted changing. im just waiting for the exhaust wrap to arrive and then that can be fitted. if all goes well i am hoping to have it fired up this weekend coming.

due to some parts not arriving this week i cant start her up but on the up side i have had more time to sort other bits that wanted doing. the new fuel tank is now in and considering its a little bigger than the old one its fits a treat, painted all the brackets underneath which hold the fuel pump cradle so thats ready to fit tomorrow also been through the gear selector remote making some new parts and now it seems more positive. fitted 2" longer springs on the rear and now the ride height is way better, i now have a nice nose down attitude .
want to thank dave at custom car and steve sharp , photographer for a fantastic feature on the cortina,

a dream come true, thanks guys,
