so today i have adjusted the shocks and to be fair i may need to go with harder springs, we have 25 clicks on the shocks to harden the shocks front and back. the rears are at 20 clicks and the fronts are at 25 clicks and its way better to drive, so thats one plus.
the lane where the garage is full of pot holes so if it drives down there ok its going to be ok on the road .
the only issue is because it has no choke i am having to wind up the throttle screw to make it tick over when cold and then turn it back as it warms up but i guess thats something i will just have to get used to.
few pics from the last week or so.

little bit of tidying up this week and we will see how it goes this week.

Why not fit a choke? engines need them - or maybe an idle bypass controller as from the photo a chocke wont fit any more?

Running on the shocks for suspension is no good, shocks are for damping, springs are for suspension. Difinitely go for stiffer springs.

Why are the (emulsion?) tubes extended forwards? is it because of the turbos - if so what is the reasoning for this? (interested to be educated).

could you fit all the choke gubbins except the flap and it's rod? at least the linkage would increase the idle.
    neil.

choke is a no go as the hole where the arm passed through the body has now been sealed up so that it will make boost. the vent tubes help even the pressure to the float bowls and help keep the jet sizes to a minimum.
its all new to me so its just a matter of try it and see what works.

i did say choke gubbins except the flap and it's rod, the rod being what goes through your sealed up hole. there is a cam that gives fast idle when the choke is used that's part of the mechanism in the spindle area.
    neil.

    cheers neil,
looking into the carb now seeing what jets and power valves i should have fitted because even though it runs and pulls really strong its really rich. because i have had so many issues the engine has never really been set up so over the next few weeks i am going to try and set the ignition timing and get the carb set up right and i hope it should be better.

Hello. Don't know if it makes any differance but your carb body is the wrong way round. Normally the primarys go to the front of the engine. Pete.

good call, the main body is on the base plate back to front. there's a guy on the mopar a bodies forum having lots of running issues after a carb rebuild until someone pointed this problem out to him. just needs the base plate turning round on the main body via the screws underneath.
    neil.

I think the main thing with a Holley is getting correct power valve, how having a turbo makes a difference is beyond my experience. Will make over rich running if you have low vac at idle if I remember right (well it is 30/40 years since I modified the one on my race car)
