a custom mini .(end off pt 1)

housebound for a week so good time to sort all the pics out for this project.
its been here for a bit under two years now.should be fully dry built within a month.
keep getting distracted with other projects:****er: as you do.

this is what we started with

    up on the jig.

was given pretty much a free reine with the modifications.only real spec was rover v8,no roof ,on air and a set of wheels to build round

    the wheels

no idea what make they are but there 15 x 6 1/2" with 195/45/15 tyres on.
makes them 7 1/2" wide which caused a bit of headscratching as with the width of the rover they wouldnt fit the front.
did over come that small hick up later in the build

first thing was to build a pretty extensive jig inside.
this was done to make all the mods possible and easy while working on my own

    new front metal work
tacked together as it will be one piece

    quarter panels!!

a little bit of cutting to add a few inches into the front

    and adding in metal
i was never happy with how i done this front.it always bugged me so i changed it later in the build.

    moving onto the rear now.
cut the rear side panels out leaving a few inches in the front

new panels were welded in .these were kept full lengh as that gave me a four in stretch at the rear

    off with the rear panel

    new rear panel

the reason for using all new panels was cost.there cheap as chips and would have been more expensive to repair all the old ones.
its also a lot nicer working with new steel.
panels were pretty awful lining up.
only saving grace was the seams being cut off.this alowed the panels to flow better.
    gas welding the rear together

and after some hammer work and sanding
