    hi craig
i think its easier to manipulate the metal after welding and you get a better finish.
still will need a thin skim of filler over it but not as much as if mig was used.
its also good to try other ways and the more you try the better you should get. so they say.

havnt quite mastered hammer and dolly work on flat panels like this but getting there.
should try to get on a metalwork/bodywork course.

    extending the supports

    and how it will look.
had to put a slice in the right hand wing and tweek it a bit to get the panel gap even.

just gotta get the bits to the blasters in the week, then primer them and weld the supports onto the bonnet, then mount it in possition

    a mini,

I have just finished reading through this thread and am impressed with the build. I am hoping you could give a better explanation of exactly how the ball joints in these pictures are assembled. Particularly the top one. I have a similar setup I wish to modify. The knuckle is similar and I wish to replace the strut with an upper A arm system and my own damper configuration.

I need to find out how the part in the knuckle works. It looks like the tapered unit goes in the knuckle. It appears to be bolted in with the pinch bolt just like mine would be.

It also looks like the kit has a threaded tube. Does this get pressed into the upper arm or welded? Can you confirm if this is a thread in ball joint and what model of balljoint did you use? Or could you post a link as to where the kit was obtained?

Later in the thread you show a damper in the front. Can you elaborate how that is connected to the suspension arms. As I am not familiar with air ride systems I thought they were their own suspension dampers as well as manual up/down movement.

Thanks for any help with my questions. If they are not clear I would be happy to correspond with you via email or even telephone if you are open to that. JS
