Buy an electric DA. It will save loads of time (plus power!).
    Looking good though!

As this is the last time that I will be doing a full re-spray prep, it is not worth investing in an electric one....and anyway it gives me frequent rests!

Well I have been carrying on and the initial rubbing down is now complete. It is fascinating to see the variety of colours where the hood fastening was removed. Powder Blue was the original colour, around it was the metalflake turquoise, flat BRG and on top the metallic BRG.

I have got a spare passenger door so decided that it should also be re-sprayed when the car is done. I have been rubbing it down .....and found some metalflake fuscia! Obviously I had swapped doors when I went down to bare metal and sprayed the metalflake turquoise back in 1972.

I have finally found those pictures of the work done in 1990 to rebuild the floor around the rear spring box.

The spare door has some rust along the bottom edge and so I have started to cut sections out. I have looked at replacement door skins or cutting a section off a later (cheaper) door skin but I have decided that I will keep as much original as possible and just patch repair.

I thik you need to cut the rest of that rust out at the bottom of the door, whatever treatment you use on that, it will be grinning through in 6 months. Shame to spoil all your hard work!

    Phil – Sorry the photos aren’t great…

But I did see a couple of Sprites at the Ace Café a few weeks back and thought of you.

    Good luck, Paul.
