I could not resist - 32 pick up

When a friend had a ready stripped tax free Scimitar chassis and another friend offered the original slot mags I had on my first Scim based rod at a good price I could not say no. A deal was done with Hardy County Hot Rods for a 32 body and pick up bed to build a quick rod using a complete 200sx engine and box I had as a spare.

Hardy County Hot Rods - Home

The body is from the original bay area rods moulds which is chopped by 4" which is too much for my liking.

So first job is to un chop it by 2" which also makes it easier to fit the 40mm steel hoops

The body has a raked windscreen which I am not keen on so during the chop I cut it about to make it upright requiring a filling strip across the roof

The doors are very basic so I moulded up some model A inners I have and made proper double skin doors you can see them along with the steel tunnel I made

    So body on the chassis

Side view of all the completed body work, around the door took a lot of work to remake the squared off window frame

    Engine and gearbox fitted

Under floor pedals fitted using 200sx master cylinder which works very well in the coupe

MM slot mag still my favorite wheels

Have been working on it on and off since March in between the Chevy just in case you thought I had been slacking

    Rich

    Rebodied scimitar, easy!

Too much going on in my head to even think about it, so much to do so little time.

I've just stumbled on this thread today as I look for a body to drop onto my SE5 chassis.

I've renovated the chassis, then realised the body is in dire condition

This looks idea for me and looks great,

but what bout the out riggers? If these are cut off, doesn't it need a VOSA type test?

Thought you might like to see it finished. Completed it a couple of months ago and gave it to our son as a graduation present. To see his surprise and grin was worth the effort.

So along with our eldest who drives a 30 pick up, if you visit Glastonbury there is a good chance now to see one of 3 daily driven rods.

Looks fantastic! Is it stilling running the Scimitar reg and chassis number and have you had any issues with registration? I have a ropey Scimitar which would make a good donor.

Looks great Rich. Do you mind if I steal a couple of the pics to post on our page? Cheers, Jon.
