YES well spotted Andy , that was for a experimental 45 cylinder radial engine , the pilot was complaining of a stutter as he hit the throttle at the bottom of a dive close to ground level ,i told him to get elocution lessons .

    orrl roighty ,

this week i have mostly been eating turkey broth .and pears.

in other news, the fitting of the permanent wide band o2 sensors, which will tell the cars computer what the air/fuel ratio is ,is ongoing .

    BRACE BRACE BRACE !!!!!

    boring photos incoming ....

    spanky new sensors fitted..

horrible little pins crimped onto the trailer cable i am using (10metres for 12 quid) ..

these pins go into this plug ,they have to be fitted so the slot in the pin end sits inline with the plug , needless to say they kept revolving and going in all to wonk ..poxy things ..

plugged in the sensors and ran the cables under the car and fed up beside the front prop shaft ,they came out here ..

then pinned the other 12 connections in the footwell , and plugged em into the boxes , which are temporarily strapped in here to see if i kick them a lot .

    Broth..

next is to wire in the power feeds through a dash switch , and then feeds to the ecu .

oh i also hoicked off all the innovate stuff that was bunging up the passengers couch lounging area.

    regards
    robert.

    WELL !

Good news is my wide band retro digi Display work blimmen well , and i went for a drive and gloried in my new data stream telling me whats was going on .noice.

Worked away last week , but this week i have been mostly eating pears ...again .

On the car i had a bit of a fit , and tried buffing it up a bit , it was all manky after the wet trip to the scramble so tried wire wool and cutting paste on the pipes ...it worked well..

then i had a bit of a go at the bonnet..

    and the batcowl..

i had not realised how oxidised it all was .

i tried the body compound on the sides ,but they just went black and manky so i need some other product , a bit of petrol took the black off.

Then did another little job , the filler piece in the middle of the seat was all wonky and green and rough , so i took it off ,filled and sanded it , and found a nice matching screw for it ..

much better ,and follows the line of the tail ridge now too.

Next i attacked the rear suspension .

The problem here was , its too soft for a full load of driver , passenger , and a full 11 gallons of lpg .

I found i had a old pair of shocks , so took them apart ,and re machined some tops to take thin mini springs , these springs are a 70 to 90 lbs/inch variable rate ,and i am using them to bolster my leaf springs ,and also the shocks are adjustable ...when i took off the taxi shock i found it has NO damping on compression , and lots on rebound ....so as the car hit bumps the wheel would gradually end up in the high position .

    old shock ..

    cut mini spring ..

i have to make a turret for the axle for the shock to mount on , then i can paint it all.

experimentation shows me this give a 3/4 " higher ride height , and the shock compresses 1" with the car weight on it, this is a little less than i would like , but i can assemble ,test , then buy springs to suit , or just run the leaf spring with no spring on the shock and use the adjustable damping to get better axle control.

    via con dios

    regards
    robert

I love the way you always seem to just happen to have lying around...something which you can tweak and get to work to solve the problem. top stuff

I do like the way you have pre-empted any murmurings about long bonnets and male virility by putting a big bra at the top....

Thank you Ian it's more, what is lying around , and designing to suit that lol. i am lucky to have freinds with scrap yards who are very kind and let me root around .

oh don't get me started on he trend for every new program on netflix and amazon has to have token glbtq...xyz characters in them ...was watching batgirl the other day and i said to v wait for it wait for it ...and yup ,,she's lesbian .... oh yes and how every new tv series or book just has to have the F word in ...even picard !!! oh ok ok .rant over lol.

well shocks are done ...to extend them i used a bit of 40x 40 box for the left one ,and made a box out of two angled steel bars for the rhs one.

i had to mount a saucy bush in the end ..

    ooops , sorry wrong bush...

there we go , an old tvr bit ,didn't have a tube to fit so made one ..

then welded the box i made out of the two bits of angle ..

and the pipe went in the end with a bit of wrap around ,and then the bush got rammed in the end .

i was a little stuck with these shocks because they had a huge 16mm eyelet on each end , but luckily found some thick wall stainless pipe that was a good firm push fit into the old bush ..

these gave me a nice tight bush for the shaft to slide into .

    fitted to the car..

in making these i made the bolt an almost interference fit ,and hand filed the end of the box to snug up to the shock on all 4 sides . time will tell it if gets a woggle on .

    thanks for looking ...

    don't be a stranger ..

    regards
