    ok dokey !

so mission for the end of this prebankholiday week , was to get those snakey 15mm pipes made up .

so first i had to decide how to mount the death globes , and this took awhile.

i realised , i need to mount them on the same overall structure as the engine they are feeding , because otherwise , as the engine moves (if it moves with 4 mounts) the only give , if the globes were on the chassis , would be the copper pipes and the little bit of rubber hose . this i felt would lead to the copper potentially fracturing .

so , after a bit of a pace , i decided to mount them to the blocks, using the oil filler take off point , a rectangular flange .

i cut some bits of plate out of the old engine mounts , and welded a bit of old butchers rack stainless tube i had onto the plate , and then a collar for the DG's to sit in , its a little lose , and i made it this way so that when its all done , i can mount the globes in a sleeve of silicone ,so they have some vibration absorbnosity ..ness.

i had to weld with ferrous wire , so then painted em up , after spending a while filing and bending them flat after the welding .(should have bolted them to something ,but was too impatient ..stitch in time !!)

    they turned out ok

then i tuned my mind to how was i going to fill the engines now !??

well , in the sump is a pipe connection , and this takes a 10mm hard line to the bottom of the filler point. i unscrewed it and it looked like this ..

and although it measures 19.7mm its actually a m20 thread , so i hoofed up to the local bolts place , and bought some m20 bolts , which i'm going to drill out to whatever i can , 16 to 18mm id guess , then copper 22 mm onto that and run it to the top , then mount the dipstick in em ! noicE!!

i also purchased all the nuts and bolts to block the old choke shaft holes ,and inj holes on the bodies , so i can get on with that .

lastly , i designed and made the vapouriser mounts to be welded on the underside of the rails , so then , with the GoD and the vaps mounted , i can GET AT MY SNAKEY BITS !! oh yes !

I suppose its too late to run some kind of oil filler through the back of the support bracket. Really love this build. Keep it up cant wait to see it running

hi dan , i can do that if the current idea is a duffer , just a bit more welding .

thanks for the kind words from both you ,and spanners , i know what you mean , im trying not to go too fast, and to get it running only once i am happy with the fuel and oiling setup.

not really much to do now though , if i can get it fired up , and it all works , then i can do the cooling system ,(still looking for a mk1 metro rad) then on to the pedals and wheel , and then the fun part ...THE BODY .

    regards
    robert

only went and got my vapourisers and globes in place.....

and got a rough bit of piping sorted .....

then after a phone call ,went out and got the other two pipes done .

bit rough and unpolished/smoothed... but i can do that later ...tell you what ,short bits of copper piper are hard to bend by hand without kinking them .

Looks great. Is the pipe ordering vs firing order significant?

thanks myles , yes , i was trying to avoid consecutive firing cylinders being side by side to avoid charge robbing .
