Could you not add a spacer to the back of the release bearing where it attaches to the arm instead? Just a thought.
if the spacer was a press fit onto the bearing and was made so it would clip to the arm (by copying the bearing) it could work i'd have thought. if altering the arm and the pivot is easy enough though i'd go for it.
Reading this makes me want my 2dr "Wedgewood blue" Sierra back dammit! :D
I sold it 15 years ago 99% finished. I built it out of every new part I could so it looked like the V8 was fitted by Ford.
I put an 8000 mile RS500 LSD rear axle and trans in it, also swopped the pensioner 4sp gear lever onto the 5 speed T5 for sleeper appeal LOL.
My g/f at the time bought a brand new Escort Cossie in '95 and a spare set of wheels came up for sale...they ended up on it too, looked fkn mint and sat perfect.
I sold it for £2K almost done, delivered it to a single car garage half a mile away and it sits there to this day, the brand new P Zero's I put on are rotted away with the mandatory paddling pools and patio furniture piled on it , and the dash ripped out, never did 1 mile, sad as fk.
Cant wait to see this Capri built 8)
Bit of an update, been plugging away getting it ready to drop it. Motor is together, been pissing about with the clutch set up, now sorted with an adjustable ball pivot from Real Steel
Other work I've done is make a slave cylinder bracket, I'll be using a landy slave and rod, should hope fully work out nice
Other bits I've bought, nice gearlever for a T5 off ebay, and needed a decent gear knob so went for a rally style nylon one, Dexron III for the trans, and also had to buy a new trans mount. Went for a an energy suspension poly one as everywhere else wanted the same money for a $15 stock one.
All being well and if it doesn't snow motor goes in this week
well it snowed and didn’t stop, weathers been shit and just haven’t had time until yesterday where i dropped the motor in
really happy to get it in, trans crossmember needs modding but pleased i can crack on with it now.
Good stuff!, Colour of the car, black engine, silver auxillieries, great combo, really into this build.
