I'm pretty sure I've got some stainless 38mm dairy bends from a set of zoomies I didn't build, buried in he scrap pile, they're lovely to tig weld, perfect fit up, no rod just a pulse setting and it wets out nice.

    few more bits done

bought a set of stainless block huggers from the states, could not be happier with them. 1 5/8", 5/16 flanges, fully tig welded for £125 delivered inc vat and duty. They maybe Chinese or whatever but you couldn't buy a mild steel mig welded manifold for a pinto over here for sub £150

Other bits, finished up the rad hoses with new stainless hose clamps, gave the engine bay a fresh coat of satin black and made a filler neck to go on the thermostat housing

Fair bit still to go but feels like it's getting there now.

Make sure you wipe any fingerprints off the headers before you fire the engine. If not they'll stain the finish and will be a bugger to get off.
need a job done on your project? i may be able to help.

yeah will do, been there with that one. My happiness was short lived, one of them is fouling nearside engine mount, so looks like my bargain headers will be meeting the bfh.

    Big fukn hammer ………
    I empathise about the pipes
My dads old RHD ( South African / English Import ) 68 Barracuda got a nice set of hooker headers back in the 80's -
left hand drive ones ……. steering was mandatory , so....
a 22 lb lump hammer for breaking ash felt did the job .

had no real time this weekend but managed to make a set back gearstick, 1” tube tig’d to 6mm plate, with an m10 nut in the end. i worked out it needed to be level with the bottom off the steering wheel.

installed with a nylon knob, feels nice and placement is comfortable.

Bit more done, fitted up the anti dive spacers

Also started making an alternator bracket, not happy with it as I’ve got a big alternator and short water pump so it has to sit outside the silhouette of the block. On hold now as I need a laser cut cranked adjuster

Also mocked up carb and filter to check clearance on block filler and bonnet, fortunately both clear
