    Moggy CA18DET

Hi All, this is the story of my Moggy build. It will be running a Nissan CA18DET from a 200SX, Megasquirt ECU & T4 turbo.
This engine is an amazing peice of kit although it does suffer oil starvation problems if not maintained properly. Mine has have a bottom end rebuild to open up the galeries & ARP shells and mains bolts and is rated at a 300bhp.

Running gear will be standard moggy up front but with Spax shox & Ford brakes (for starters anyhow) and a narrowed & redrilled to Chevy pattern (by ARRC im told) Volvo outback hanging off 4 bar & watts.

Stance wise, it will be a bit 'nose up' with narrow steels up front & phat Torq Thrust's out back.

    Here's a few pics...

I bought it at the end of summer 2010 and it had to go into storage untill other projects were out of the way. She aint pretty and does need some new metal but she's pretty solid.

    Bought as a rolling shell.

Brought her up to the workshop this week and imediatly dropped the engine in. Its snugg but shouldnt be to bad. I will have to cut a slot onto the top of the bell housing (as done with Fiat twink conversions) to clear the rack but it wont interfear with its strength.

Its supposed to sit on a cant by the way...

Thats it for now. I'll post more pictures and text when something exciting heppens.

    Thanks fella.
Yeh, seen that one. A lot of work there and a bit unnesesary I think. I've done quite a lot of reaserch and not found anyone who has put this engine in a moggy (apart from a chap with a pickup but I think he abandoned it). I dont get it really as they are cheap as chips and a great fit - the gear stick sites exacty where needed too. Which is nice! :-)

are you mounting the rad and intercooler in the boot or will the engine sit a lot further back once the bellhousings trimmed? looks like the front pulley's almost at the front panel, or is the the photo giving that illusion? neil.
need a job done on your project? i may be able to help.

The engine will go back a little further yes. I need to change the front X member arrangement to clear the pully. The oter pully will be milled away and the trigger wheel added. Its a difference of 20mm as is to 6mm for the trigger wheel. Not a great deal but relivant.
The intercooler will sit over the plenum being fed air via vents in the bonnet.

Im just a glutten for punishment!
The moggy will be considerably lighter than the 200sx and i've always wanted to mess about with mapping. Your not alone in thinking that a bit odd... haha

You can do mapping on the standard ECU if you want.
